MA PAUDI

All castes and creeds, including the tribes among the old inhabitants of Seraikella, Kharswan and Singhbhum very strictly follow this. The Nua-khia Jantal at Seraikella is followed by similar jantals in other Paudi-sthans throughout Seraikella, Singhbhum, which is sometimesdescribed as Paudi-Mati or the land of Ma Paudi. These ceremonies go to promote the cultural unity of the lands of Sri Paudi.

Besides ' the festival described above, there is another jantal on the Jeshtha Sukla Chaturthi-the day Sri Paudi Devi was installed at Porahat during the reign of Achutya Singh I in the 13th century A. D. and similarly installed at Seraikella much later, known as the birthday of Ma Paudi. Now this jantal is performed in Seraikella when all tenants and lease-holders bring their sacrifices to the Sri Paudi temple.

This is followed by similar jantals in other Paudi-sthans, some of which only may be enumerated as being in Karaikella, Karnagiri Guda, Gamharia, Ujanpur-Ganjia, Tumung, Dumurdiha, Joddiha, Sampra, Burdihi, Dumra, Gahira, Tentoposi, Banskata, Porahat, Kharswan and various other places. The above are the routine annual festivities in the name and honor of Sri Paudi.
