MYLAPORE |
|
Then this
Minister Sukra, who came to know that the Brahmin was none other than Vishnu, hinted the
face to the King and tried to dissuade him from grating the Brahmin's request. But the
King did not listen to his Minister's advice. So Sukra took the form of a fly and blocked
the nozzle hole of the Kamandala to prevent the flow of water from the vessel. Then the Brahmin (Vishnu) took a Darbha and inserted it into the
nozzle so as to clear the passage. In this operation Sukra lost one of his eyes. Then he
went to Mylapore and prayed to Kapalesswarar. He got back the lost eye and at last
attained salvation. So this place is also known as Sukrapuri. |
