Even
now the festival is celebrated every year in commemoration of this incident on the first
day of Ani with great pomp and solemnity, when the image of Jnana - sambandar is taken to
Tirumetraligai and Tiruchettimutram Sri Saktivaneswara Swami temple in a pearl palanquin.
From there the decorations of the palanquin will be removed and the image will be taken
into the Pearl Pandal at midday and the function will reach its climax when Dhenu -
pureeswara give, darsan at the sanctum.
At night Jnanasambandar is taken in procession
under the Pearl Pandal and Dhenupureeswara with Goddess Jnanambal will come in procession
in a pearl palanquin decorated as a pearl celestial car, and give darsan to all. The
quintessence of the ceremony is the devotional love between Jnanasambandar the devotee and
his Lord Dhenupure - eswara. |
