| When a place
becomes sacred, people go there from far and near to get peace and blissful solace. It so
happened in olden days that, when Lord Subrahmanya was fighting against Demon Padmasura he
had to come here to get extraordinary or divine Sakti to kill the demon. The Lord selected
the place for his meditation to attain this power. Goddess
Mother Satyayatakshi being pleased with the penance of Subrahmanya presented him with a
single-headed spear (Vel in Tamil) by which Lord Subrahmanya could kill Padmasura and
relieve the earth from his terrors. Padmasura was a Brahmin by origin; to kill a Brahmin
for whatever purpose is a sin and crime too. Lord Subrahmanya. |
