| Contracted this sin
of killing of Brahmin (Brahmahatti), due to which his body became black gradually. He came
back to this sacred temple where Goddess Satyayatakshi had presented him with the spear,
and took bath in the milky pond and regained his old beautiful form. Thus the sacred place
of Sikkal was further sanctified by the presence of Lord Subrahmanya who is worshipped
here as Singaravelavar. He is the presiding deity
in the shrine. True to his name Lord Subrahmanya appears very beautiful here with his
spear. |
