TIRUVANAIKKAVAL

There are many small shrines in the Prakarams dedicated to and goddesses of lesser importance, of which the shrine dedicated to Raja Rajeswarar deserves special mention. The Lingam installed
here has five faces and is known as Panchamukha Lingam. There are many sculptures of rare and exquisite beauty of workmanship in this temple and it surpasses the larger Vishnu temple at Srirangam, in architectural beauty.

There are manymandaparns in the temple,
hundred-pillared mandapam, thousand- pillared mandaparn, Vasanta mandaparn,
Somaskandha mandapam, Nataraja mandaparn, Trimurthi mandapam, etc. The inner portion of the thousand-pillared
mandapam looks like a chariot and many wheels, horses and beautiful images have been carved out on pillars. The temple
of Devi Akhilandeswari is built of marble 'stones.
