Siva
and Parvati exchanged their dresses and appeared before Brahma, Siva in
the guise of Parvati, and vice versa. Brahma easily recognized Siva and prayed to Him to
forgive.
All the sins committed by him.ThenBrahma took a
dip in the Brahma Teertham, which he created, andconducted Mandala Brahmotsavam, which
lasted for 40 days. On the 37th day Pancha-Prakara festival was conducted, when Siva
dressed like a female and Parvati as a male were taken out in procession. This Pancha
Prakara festival is still conducted today in the same manner as was done by Brahma, and
the deities are taken in procession through all the five enclosures of the temple. |
