Asoka
then sought means to restore the sight to his loving son. He knew
that superhuman powers would bring about miraculous cure in such
cases. He took his sightless son to Gosha, a reputed Buddhist saint
dwelling at Mahabodhi tree and prayed for his mercy. Gosha was
visibly moved, when he heard the woeful tale. He promised them with
the sight and fixed a date and programme for it.
At
that auspicious moment, he said to a few devotees present there,
"I will hold an important congregation tomorrow. The devotees
shall bring each a vessel for collecting the tears shed, during the
moving sermon".
