A
vast multitude attended the congregation as expected, with vessels
evidently. Gosha began the sermon. It went on. As it progressed, it
touched the hearts
of the audience forcefully. It drew tears involuntarily, which were
collected in their respective vessels, as instructed. On completion
of the sermon, the saint requested them to pour the collected tears
into the golden vessel kept on the altar.
Turning
to Kunala he said, "My son, please wash your eyes with the
tears in the vessel. I have now taught the mysterious teachings of
Buddha. If they are false, or my exposition wrong, no change will be
effected and if true, they will bless the blind with the
sight". Kunala obeyed. He received his sight at once, as if by
magic. He saw the bright, colourful magnificent, wonderful world,
once again. The joy of Asoka and the audience was indescribable.
They left saying, "There is nothing impossible to a Godman and
the evolved soul. God never forsakes the righteous".
To
commemorate this miraculous event, a stupa was erected at Taxila by
Asoka.
