ASOKA AS A FATHER

No sooner did she set her eyes on Kunala than there grew lecherous passion in her - her lust was up. His beauty sent a thrill into her and awakened the incestuous impulses dormant in her vile heart. His form was angelic, and speech, music to her. She became a slave to her passion, and craved union with her own step-son. Horrible! Barbarous! Beastly! She threw off the canons of morality and decency to the winds. She started darting amorous glances at him and tried to lure him into the cob-web of her comely appearance.

Kunala was aghast, when he read her mind. Really it was most unfortunate and unbecoming of the queen of Asoka. He repelled her advances and evaded meetings tactfully on some pretext or the other. For him, she was mother. "Matru devo bhava" - mother is the Goddess on earth concept was entrenched in heart and was found circulating along with flood from head to foot. As she came nearer and nearer, he grew wilder and wilder. And at last he showed her real place.
