This
venerable Patriarch - Kusuma Sreshti although blessed with every covetable
virtue and endowed with incalculable fortune, was pining for Santanaprapti.
As enjoyed by the scriptural anon he performed all kinds of prayer
service to every deity adorable, undertook journeys to pilgrim centre-, and
gifted precious things, besides feeding Brahmins regularly for days and days and
days. Alas! his ambition to leave a heir to the dukedom remained unfulfilled.
His mental anguish and constant reminder of it by his loving wife was waxing
minute by minute. When consulted his celebrated Kulaguru Bhaskaracharya and
asthan astrologers, they Studied the horoscope and counseled him to
perform Putrakamestiyaga by
Kosaladesadheeswar-Dasaratha, under similar circumstances. Forthwith the entire
state machinery went into action to arrange for the performance of the yaga,
sagaciously suggested by the learned pundit, and meticulously guided by the
preceptor Bhaskaracharya and his able assistants.
