Though
occupied a conspicuous place as a cradle of civilizations, it is not
free from the sweep of the iron hand of time. Due to passage of long
Yugas, much of its wealth and worth is found in tattered rags on
last dregs of existence. Finding
the architectural splendour and sculptural marvels lying
scattered and buried; the Rishivatikas and dhyanamandirs over-grown
with herbs and shurbs; the adored idols mutilated and abandoned,
bathing ghats silted up; and dharmasalas in dilapidated condition,
the Departments of Archaeology and Indian History of Universities
like Kurukshetra and Delhi have undertaken excavation and renovation
works for resurrection of its glory and publish to the world, the
sacredness of its soil. The labors of scholars and scientists have
already shed light on hitherto desolate mounds like Amin and
Daulatpur. The indefatigable work of the spade and crowbar have
discovered the idol of Se shasaya moorthy of Lord Vishnu at Faridkot.
And sure many more of inestimable worth will rise from the desolate
wilderness soon. Let
us await that opportune time.
