Mother Padmavathi 's shrine lies
to the left and is the first of the triology of temples. The garbha griha and
mukha mandapa are vast and superb. The Mother's icon is made of black granite
and is masterly chiseled to perfection. She gives drasan in sitting posture and
faces east. The glorious decoration made with dazzling diamond studded necklaces
and big size colourful garlands heighten the splendour of her enchanting visage
and bends the heads of the devotees in veneration, the moment they come into her
magnetic aura. The icon of processional deity is a piece of superb craftsmanship
that raises hands in veneration. But here too one is allowed to view the
Mother's glistening face, but for a feeting second as at Tirumala due to
unmanageable long queue of bhaktas waiting for darsan.
Agamic
worship is offered with elaborate rituals. Porjodiaal festivals like Karthika
Brahmotsav, Float festival etc., are celebrated on a scale that defy
description; on the last day of Brahmotsav costly presently in the form of
Jewels, Sarries, etc., come from Tirumala Carried all the way from up hills on
the elephant back. An important miss not festival and lakhs congregate and
participate with peity coupled with the gaiety which can only be seen than
heard, or read.
