It is a famous
Narasimha kshetra with yugas-old spiritual background
and legendary sanctity. It is renowned as a Khadri Lakshmi Narasimha kshetra and
is adorning many pages in the puranas. Illustrious pravaktas, Vaggeyakaras and
emperors visited, and were blessed by this powerful Lakshmi Narasimha swamy. It
is a very big temple with majestic gopurams, specious courtyards, elegantly
built mini-shrines. Immensity and superb sculpture greets the eyes and elevates
the visitors. The archa murti-Narasimhaswamy gives darsan in fierce aspect with
eight hands, two holding the asuradhama's head and feet and potent weapons in
the other hands.
The
Mother's mandir lying to the north of the main mandir is quite grand and has
garbha griha, mukha mandapa and mahamandapa. There are very many exquisite
sculptural pieces beautifying this, like the statues of Venugopalaswamy; dancing
partners that are luring and detaining the devotees irresistibly.
