Lingodbava
Puja
special
pujas have to be offered at certain days of the year deemed very
auspicious to received full benefit. Among them Lingodhava Puja is
one. The second being theday of swallowing Halahjalam. The date and
exacttime of Lingodbhava has been specifically mentioned in books
and so devotees await it on the tip toe of expectation.
This
propitious time occurs on the Chaturdasi of the dark fortnight of
Maghamasa, and at the evening of first Monday of Sravanamasa. These
two are the most auspicious, and performing Siva puja then confers
unlimited bliss. Devotees can perform this in their houses itself,
and it is not obligatory to go to Sivaalayas. One thing it demands
is steadfastness and single-minded devotion. Further, this can be
performed either with theguidance of preiests, or by devotees
themselves, if they are familiar with the procedure to be adopted.
