Forthwith he built two temples one for Balasubrahmanya called
Dandayudhapani by cutting out a big sized boulder into cave and another for
Sri Valli Devasena sameta Subrahmanya Swamy, just in front of the cave
temple. All are in modest, yet grandiose proportions and beautifications with
provision for flag staff, Pradakshana marga, niches for Parivaradevathas,
Navagrahas etc. And on 18.5.1954 the deities were installed with Agamic
rituals amidst unprecedented fanfare. The functions were attended by huge
crowds. Devotional activities were initiated and conducted with a rare zeal, as
its origin is imbued with mystery. Moreover, near the cave temple, there is an
ant-hill - the natural abode of the cobra and is worshipped by women folk
with great adour. And many
devotees witnessed the spectacle of that cobra rising, its head and receiving
the offerings of milk etc. So this kshetra is blessed with the triple aspects of
Lord Subrahmanya - he is adorned in the boy aspect - Sri Dandayudhapani; wedded
form - Sri Valli Devasena sametha Subrahmanya and finally; the Sarparupa -
cobra aspect. Combination of all these aspects are rare rather unique not found
in many places in India or abroad, say even in Tamilnadu, where one can come
across Murugan shrines scattered all over and at every step to be precise, says
the priest.
Its
importance started waxing since many holy men from far and near visited and
hailed the building of temple atop as quite auspicious and grand; they donated
liberally for expansion activities.
