TIRUPATI

Another legend despite having common features upto this point of milking of the cow over the ant-hill, takes a different turn at this point, According to it, when Lord Vishnu was getting fed by the milk of the cows everyday thus, it was beaten by the cow-herd one day. Escaping from him, the Lord reached an asram where he was treated by Vakula, the head of the hermitage as per son, and she took upon herself the whole burden of getting her adopted son wedded to Padmavathi, the enchanting daughter of Tondaman, the local king. And for the marriage he borrowed money from Kubera, the richest man of the fourteen worlds. The marriage ceremony was attended by the gods en masse. It is for repaying that huge debt, he is collecting enormous interest from the beneficiaries. Though there is. abundant evidence of a free play of fictitious elements in this legend, there are certain historical facts that emerge from the archives, like a king by name Tondaman did live between 57 B.C. and 78 A.D. and inscriptions bear testimony to the liberal endownments and benefactions made to the temple. Invaluable jewels adorning the Lord, even now lend credence to the story and throw a halo over the Lord, worshipped by trillion billion millions of devotees all over the globe. And he is the only Divinity among the Hindu gods who crossed the seas and settled down in alien countries permanently, in grand shrines built with million billion dollars borne by ardent devotees. As irony world have it, the lord is getting entrenched in the hearts of perfect aliens, who normally oppose diametrically any thing theistic in consent, import and spirit, in preference to the test-tube-truths, they are mining out with mental strength and physical wealth, aided and a betted by huge Government Funds.
