It is a fortified hill station housing many hoary temples of great reputation. It was popular as Kaeigiri and the town atop
Biddasari surrounded by thick forests of captivating beauty and ethereal bliss made this place a lovely haven for tourists and
theists. The fort atop the hill and its vast surroundings was inhabited by people and it was flourishing town with many fine
buildings, including traveller, bungalow and a Vaishnavite temple going by the name of Kumbhi Narasimhaswamy temple of
great historic significance. And was built by Hoyasala kings. A big cave atop the hill is housing the icons of Rama lakshmana
of great antiquity and divinity drawing bhaktas always. On the same hill lies another temple for Hanuma and in its vicinity lie
many thirthas.
The temple at the foot of - the hill is dedicated to Durga Naiasimhaswamv and it was built in the Dravidian style of
architecture with imposing dimensions by Kantiiava Narasimharaja Odayar. Daily agamic worship is offered with due
devotion along with annual functions conducted on a grand scale.
It lies about 10 km off Tuntkur, one of the districts of Karnataka, accessible by bus.
