How can one get saanti if he
continuously goes out in quest of external things? Such an outside object would come and
go. What does it matter if it comes or goes? Let it come if it does. Then it shall be made
one with that which is the nature of supreme joy and which is resident inside of one,
which is the very core of one's being.
A number of big rivers flow into the ocean. The ocean admits them into its bosom.
Those rivers originally went out from the ocean. They now come back into it. When they
come back, they be come one with the ocean.
Even so, the 'external' joys are only
particles of the aananda, which is inside our being. When they arise, they must be
mentally fused with the inner aananda,
they must be understood to have only sprung
out of that aananda,
that they do not have an existence in their own right. Instead, these
outside pleasures should not be sought as external objects. One should not go out of
oneself in search Of them. If one realizes that all are only inside, one attains saanti:
