The painting made
by this medium are not only life-like but durable too.
There were many famous painters in oil-colour in the West. Reuben, Van Gough, Michael
Angelo were some of them.
To India, this medium of painting was new at that time and Ravi Varma found it
fascinating.
Very soon, he learnt its technique and used it for drawing pictures of Indian scenes and
themes from Indian mythology which our people liked very much.
Harishchandra, Shakuntala, Krishna, Ravana, Damayanti, Rukmangada, Viswamitra were some of
his popular paintings.
He also painted common people of the country and their dwellings of his times. |
