RAVI VARMA |
|
In 1880 another
exhibition of paintings was held at Poona, in which Ravi Varma's paintings won great
praise.
His fame as a painter spread to foreign countries also.
In 1892 there were exhibitions at Vienna in Europe and Chicago in America.
There too his work was greatly appreciated.
In India, the Maharaja of Baroda and Mysore invited him and commissioned him to paint
portraits for them.
Some of these famous paintings are to be seen now in their palaces or museums of the
places.
By this time Ravi Varma's paintings became so popular throughout the country that he could
not meet the demand. Many peoplewanted them; but each painting was costly and took a long
time for him to paint. |
