RABINDRANATH TAGORE |
|
His English
friends, one of whom was a great artist and another a great poet, liked them so much that
they got it printed and sent to the Nobel Prize Committee in Switzerland, which later
selected the book for its award.
After the Award, many foreign countries invited Tagore to come to their country and
deliver lectures. Thus Tagore went on a world, tour. He visited many countries in Europe
and Asia.
Wherever he went, he was warmly received and praised. He staged some of his plays in those
countries. Rabindranaths early school
experience made him start a school much different from common schools. This resulted in
the Santiniketan near Calcutta which is now well-known all over the world.Presently, it is
known as the Viswabharati. Students from different parts of the world come here and study
many subjects.Great teachers from other countries teach or guide the students. |
