AKBAR |
|
Even after
assuming rulership, Akbar had to fight against Court intrigues. In order to know what the
people thought of his rule, Akbar often went out into the streets in disguise and
mixed with people. Once he was almost detected but he saved himself by squinting his eyes
and queering his facial features.
In the initial stages of his rule, Akbar was guided by the advice of his mother and
trusted friends.
Within a short time Akbar began conquering neighbouring states and soon he expanded his
kingdom. In these expeditions, two stand out most for their brave resistance. One was the
bold confrontation that Rani Durgavati of Gondwana put up and the other offered by Chand
Bibi of Ahmednagar, both of which Akbar ultimately overcame. |
