THE
HINDU RENAISSANCE AT A TURNING POINT |
|
Such
a new approach to Vedic knowledge cannot be done in a medieval way
but must be given a modern relevance and practical value. New Vedic
schools should create a new breed of scientists, doctors,
therapists, sociologists, psychologists, and historians. These new
Vedic teachers will have an important place in societies all over
the world in the coming global age.
Naturally such institutions require profound
thought. They cannot be produced by mere slogans, mass techniques,
or personal charisma. It also requires a concerted effort by Hindus,
not each group doing its own thing to establish them. Such
institutions need not be initially huge, however. They need not
require massive investments or laborious planning. They can start
off with fifty or a hundred students and grow organically by the
natural interest they instill in people.
This is the new form of Hinduism required for the
coming century, for which the earlier Hindu renaissance was a
prelude. For India to awaken and flourish it must bring out its
Vedic spirit in action. This is a way of knowledge and spiritual
practice. It is not a new religion, but a timeless path of inquiry
into truth. For this Vedic approach to be reemerge everything must
be questioned, including all the religions and sciences of the
world. Vedic science must once more become the main emphasis of
study and practice, not merely as a religious doctrine but as a key
to universal knowledge. |
