While
we should be considerate of the feelings of other people we fall
from the unity of truth when we allow a double standard in religion.
There is not one set of religious laws for the Hindus, another for
the Muslims, and a third for the Christians, any more than there is
any different set of natural laws for each group.
We all live under
the same reality and have to face the same consequences of our
actions. Nor are we truly serving others when we fail to make them
aware of the karma of their actions, which is that violence is wrong
even if it is taught by a religion.
If non-violence is a universal principle then the aggressive
missionary efforts of Christianity and Islam must come in for
criticism on this count. Members of these religions are also subject
to the laws of the universe. Why should they be made exempt from
universal laws for political purposes, when obviously they must
remain under them in fact? |
