VEMULAVADA

The God in the same night appeared before him, and told him that a shrine of Lord Siva by name Rajeswara was at the bottom of that Dharmagundam and that the king should bring it up and consecrate it on the banks of the tank for purposes of worship. The king accordingly searched for the Linga in the Dharmagundam, got it, and consecrated the God on the banks of the same tank. Since that time, the God is known as Rajeswaraswami. It is also said in this connection that Indra, who was also suffering from the sin of Brahmahatya Dosha due to his killing the demon Vritrasura, was also relieved of his great sin only after bathing in Dharmagundam according to the instructions of Brihaspati.
