Glory to the King Malladeva (Naranarayan), who by virtue of his
mercy, is kind to the people, who in archery is like Arjuna and in charity like Dadhichi
and Karna; he is like an ocean of all good ness; and he is versed in many sastras; his
character is . excellent: in beauty he is its bright as Kandarpa, he is a worshipper of
Kamakhya. His younger brother, Sukladev (Chilarai) built this temple of bright stones on
the Nilachal, for the worship of the goddess Durga in 1.487 Saka (1565 A.D.). His be loved
brother, Sukladhvaj, again with universal fame, the crown of the greatest heroes, who,
like the fabulous Kalpataru, gave all that was devoutly asked of him the chief of all
devotees of the goddess, constructed this beautiful temple with heaps of stones on the
Nila hill in 1487 Saka." |
