In the cosmology of
Sankaradeva, God is the absolute reality. He is the material cause as well as the
efficient cause of the universe, He is endowed with all auspicious and excellent
attributes which are unsurpassable. Sankaradeva
considers the Absolute Brahman as Narayana, the only object of adoration. In Kirtan Ghosha
he states:
Prathame pranamo Brahmarupi Sanatana
Sarva avataras Karana Narayana
"At the outset, I bow down to Narayana, the Eternal One in the form of Brahma, the
cause of all incarnations."
God is infinite and indeterminate. He is the Primus of the universe, the universe has its
being in Him, and returns unto Him. He is the cause and final solace of the universe. He
is without a beginning, all
purity, all knowledge, all delight ana everlasting. |
