I have actually seen a woman sitting over the pit with the fervent belief of getting cured soon.  Models of limbs in wood or metal are offered in the hope of cure or in gratitude for having secured a cure. Those who cannot come to the temple them selves, send some amounts through their friends to put into receptacles before the Goddess, for their wished-for relief. *

One interesting feature of this Sankaranayinar temple is that Sri Velappa Desika Murtigal of Tiruvaduturai Adheenam Mutt installedSrichakrapeetham in front of Sri Gomati Amman and it is the people's belief that the worship of this chakra is able to cure all dire diseases.
