VADAPALANI

Sri Chettiar being a pious man felt very happy over it and said to himself, "What a blessing that God should have considered me fit to serve him!"

On the appointed day Ratnavel Chettiar went to Annaswamy Nayagar who was ready to leave the world and go to the feet of God. Nayagar soon passed away. A tomb was constructed for him at a distance of a furlong from the temple and Ratnavel Chettiar continued the work of worship to Lord Subrahmanya's picture.
Ratnavel Chettiar converted the house of Annaswamy Nayagar into a temple and ordered a sculptor to make an image of Lord Subrahmanya according to the specifications given by the latter. He also told the sculptor that he had only Rs. 35/- and would give only that amount. Though the sculptor was not satisfied with the offer, yet he started the work as per specifications.
