VADAPALANI

The sculptor agreed but the images never turned up so beautiful as the one made for Vadapalani. As the image was not installed immediately at Vadapalani the sculptor had to keep it with him for some time. In the meanwhile trustees of other big temples, who had a mind to get this image somehow, tried to tempt the sculptor to part with the image, but the latter never agreed.

On the appointed day Ratnavel Chettiar went to Annaswamy Nayagar who was ready to leave the world and go to the feet of God. Nayagar soon passed away. A tomb was constructed for himat a distance of a furlong from the temple and Ratnavel Chettiar continued the work of worship to Lord Subrahmanya's picture. Ratnavel Chettiar converted the house of Annaswamy Nayagar into a temple and ordered a sculptor to make an image of Lord Subrahmanya according to the specifications given by the latter.
