MANGALAGIRI

Among the other interesting objects that lure the visitors, the Kshetra vriksha on the hill comes first. The tree blesses the barren women with children by offering prayers. The second is a slab bearing the foot prints of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. It is installed on a raised platform on the step way to the hill temple. Visitors halt for a while and pray to that remarkable saint-Poet. There are some thirthams famous for their waters and are connected with divinities. The Kiti thirtham, Vata thirtham and Chakra thirtham are famous and are lying within a walkable distances from shrines lying in the centre of town.

There are many festivals celebrated to the Presiding deities throughout the year. As there are temples for both Vaishnava deities like Narasimhaswamy, Venkateswaraswamy and Satyanarayanaswamy, and Saivate deities like Malleswaraswamy, this temple town is busy always with festivals and special prayer services of all types. Everyday is an auspicious day, since it is deemed one of the eight important Mahakshetras of Pavitra Bharat, and one among the 32 visit worthy Narasimha Kshetras of Andhra Pradesh. The Brahmotsavam festival lasting for 12 days, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Hanuman Jayanti, Srirama Navami, Narasimha Jayanthi, Maha Sivaratri have also great pull. and thousands of Narasimhopasakas and Sivabhaktas participate in them with great ardour worthy of emulation.
