Mother
Jnanaprasunambika's shrine lies adjacent, but faces the east. It has
also Mukhamantapa and antarala of huge dimensions. The beautiful
tall image of the Mother in standing posture exudes compassion
through her broad eyes and beckons instant veneration. She confers
several boons like santana prapti, dushta grahanivarana, together
with wisdom and wealth. After offering soulful prayers to the
Mother, the devotees saunter along the huge inner courtyard studded
with scores of Sivalingas enshrined in small mandirs. The sculptural
adornments made by several rulers starting with Pallavas followed by
Emperor Tondaman, Kulothanga Chola, Vara Narasimha, Yadavaraj a,
Krishna Devaraya and Atchyuta Raya are of high order and detain the
art-lover hours together. Nattukoti Chettiars too made considerable
endowments.
Mostly,
almost all the devotees visit the Durga shrine and Kannappa temples
atop the hillocks lying to the South and North of the main temple.
There is a beautiful Panchamukha linga enshrined in a small shrine
atop a small hill to the South of the main temple, which is visit
worthy.
