The
Mother's all round vigilance over the safety of her own trusted
devotee saved him. His dramatic escape, he said later was due to
Mother's mysterious hand and her inexhaustible mercy.
The
pious Englishman donated to the Mother Vedanayaki in token of his
gratitude, a delicately and artistically carved miniature ivory
cradle inlaid wish gold with his name inscribed both in English and
Tamil, which is carefully preserved in a glass casket in the temple.
And is shown even today to the anxious enquirers on request. Though
this gem of excellent filigree work may not worth some millions, nor
does it match that mysterious act of saving life, but it is serving
as a standing testimony of the Mother's compassion.
