The child is
taught absolutely to accept certain principles as right and taught also at the same time
to discard those principles in action wherever worthwhile worldly results are to be
obtained. A simultaneous acceptance of contradictory ideas is not possible except in
the form of an illusion. Even if it were accomplished in a bona fide manner, it cannot be
a healthy process. We cannot employ untruth as a
servant without payingthe heavy wage it demands, viz., spiritual death. It is just
another aspect of the great truth that was embodied in the significant words that the
wages of sin is death. If we continually practise error, we cannot prevent the wells of
the spirit from going dry.
The injury done by disharmony is to the mind, which is the
thinking and feeling machine, the very engine-room in the powerhouse of human energy. |
