Vedanta is the
answer. It is not necessary to build a new religion. In India, we have a religion, and a
philosophy attached to it, as
old as civilization itself which is remark ably consistent with science as well as
politics. The claim may to outsiders seem strange,
especially to those whose knowledge of Hinduism has been derived from the information
supplied by the Christian missionaries of an older generation.
As we are not, however, living in the times of the
proselytizing Christian missions whose one function was to show that Hinduism was good for
nothing, it may be hoped that the claim made here will receive a fair examination at the
hands of sincere thinkers.
In any event, readers in India would stand to benefit by a
reassessment of their own heritage in the light of modern conditions and requirements. |
