SAMARTHA RAMADAS |
|
The saint therefore
resolved within himself to teach the people the true-values of sanatana dharma and make
them live without fear of the enemy and at
peace with themselves.
At the conclusion of his travels Ramadasa returned to the hanks of the river Krishna in
1644. At Chapala, fifty miles from Satara, he set up an image of Rama and disciples
gathered around him and -a math rapidly grew.
It was at this time that young Shivaji met him on the advice of Sant Tukaram, at a place
called Singanawadi. At once they
took to each other and Shivaji became the saints worthy disciple. Ramadasa initiated
Shivaji in religion in 1649.
Their association developed fast and Shivaji saw the master very often. He caused a temple
to be built at Chapala for Rama and endowed lands and properties for its upkeep. |
