SAMARTHA RAMADAS

Ramadasa prayed to the Goddess: "Mother, I have heard that you kill the wicked; I now pray unto you to further the cause of the king."

Ramadasa often retired to the forest to meditate. During those periods, he wrote the famous book Dasa Bodha. In between
he trained disciples to worship Rama in a particular way. Those who follow the saint in this way are known as Ramadasis. Even today there are many of them.

Among the first disciples of Ramadasa were Kalyanaswamy, Diwakara Gosavi, Uddhava Gosavi and Vasudeva Gosavi. Akkabai and Venubai were his chief women disciples. The saint organised mutts and sent out disciples to run them.
