SAMARTHA RAMADAS |
|
Later at the
request of Shivaji the saint came down to live at Parali, eight miles from Satara so as to
be easily available to
him for consultations. That place is now known as Sajjangad. It is situated on the top of
a hill 600 feet high. Residential facilities for
the saint and his followers and amenities were provided by Shivaji. Properties were
endowed for the upkeep of this ashram.
The relation between Ramadasa and Shivaji became so close that the latter always began his
letters to the Swami as "Shivaji who is merely a dust on his Master's feet places his
head upon his Master's feet and requests It is now a matter of history that Shivaji had
placed his entire kingdom at the feet of his Master who, however, asked Shivaji to rule it
as his representative.
In 1661 Ramadasa installed the beautiful idol of Tulaja Bhavani at the famous Pratapgad
fort for worship by Shivaji. |
