KIRATAMARJARESWARAM

With a remorseful heart he went to the tank and had a dip in it. Quite suddenly he was also transformed to his original self and in utter amazement looked around. To his surprise he found his co-disciple on the other bank. After this happy union, they went into the temple to have the blessings of the Lord.

Lord Siva was pleased to give them darsan and directed them to proceed to Kailas and join Nandikeswar the spiritual preceptor. They agreed to his bidding provided their requests were granted, namely, (1) the sins of those who would take bath in Pundarika Pushkarani would be washed off, (2) thenceforth the name of the linga should be Kiratamarjareswarar in commemoration of the incident leading to their salvation and (3) the place should be known thereafter as Kiratamarjarapuram. Lord Siva granted the prayer and Kantha and Mahakantha went back to Kailas.
