KIRATAMARJARESWARAM

The landlord replied that he would certainly go in for treatment of the injured wife or mother but not abandon her. Lord Siva argued further, if that was so what was the propriety in replacing His consort Muktambikai by a new one? The force of the argument startled the landlord.Next day the landlord took recourse to restore the mutilated hand by getting it tied up with a silver wire in perfect setting, which one can still see.

The name of the village Villivakkam has been derived from the Tamil word Villi meaning Kirata, and Vakkam meaning a group of houses forming a hamlet. A dip in the sacred waters of Pundarika Pushkarani is as efficacious as a dip in the Ganges itself if not more. Even during the severest draught the tank never dries up but remains as the only source of supply of drinking water to the neighborhood.

Festivals: Brahmotsavam festival is held during the month of February-March every year. There are numerous processional deities like Vighneswara, Somaskandha,
Chandrasekhara, Subrahmanya, Valli, Devayanai, Nataraja, Sivakami, Pradoshanayaka, Bhikshatana, Parasakti and Ashtaraja.
