KIRATAMARJARESWARAM |

Such an accident is
considered highly ominous and according to Hindu belief the worship of a mutilated idol is
sacrilege. The landlord was greatly agitated and he
anticipated some calamitous visitation in the near future. The only expiation left open
for the landlord was to replace the mutilated idol by an exact replica. Such a duplicate
was ordered for and carved out by the dexterous hands of a master sculptor. Time passed; at last the date and time were fixed for the installation
of the new idol. On the night previous to the day fixed for installation, Lord Siva
appeared in a dream to the landlord and questioned him whether he would abandon his wife
or mother, if she had been injured in an accident, without attempting to effect a cure. |
