Introduction
This is the birthplace of Pattinathar. There are fine carvings and sculptural work in the
gopuram of the temple dedicated to the
Goddess known as Soundaryanayaki. There are also the following idols: 1.Maruthavanar, son
of Pattinatar, 2.Chendanar, 3. Ghoshambikai, 4.Chandra- sekharar, 5. Siva Sarma, the
priest, 6. Susilai, the wife of the priest, 7. Sivakalai, the wife of Pattinathar’s
and 8. Nayadiyar, Pattinathar's disciple, the Bhadragiri Raja.
