Adisesha
would coil round Mount Meru with all his might and Vayu would, try to
unloosen the grip with all his strength.
Because of there fight the whole world
suffered from an unprecedented hurricane
and storm. Inspire of all attempts, the Wind God could not loosen the grip of Adisesha.
Then Lord Siva intervened and asked
Adisesha to slacken the grip a bit to give
Vayu a chance to prove his mettle.
Adisesha obeyed, the Wind God threw in all his might, and as a result three pieces of
Mount Meru were torn asunder. One chip of the Mount fell at Kalahasti, the second at
Tiruchirapalli and the third in Ceylon. |
