TIRUVENGADU

This place is also called AdiChidambaram. (Ancient Chidambaram). The deity is called Swetaranyaswami as he gave moksham (salvation) to a devotee, Swetaketu. At this temple, for the sake of his bhakta, Swetaketu, the Lord danced the Seven Tandavams, i.e., Ananda, Sandhya, Samhara, Tripuranta, Urdhva, Bhujanga and Lalita.

The Goddess Mother (Kali) also dances the Gowri Tandavam and Kali Tandavam. Here the Kali is known as Bhadrakali. There are two other Kalis also, i.e., Brahma Vidyai and Durgai. There is Ashta Lakshmis in this temple, four in a compact place and the other four each separately near to one another. The Navagrahas are in one row.
