TIRUVENGADU |

Lord Siva got very
annoyed at the disrespectful behavior of Yama towards his devotee. He came out of the
Linga and punished Yama for his presumption. So this place came to be known as
Swetaranyam.
Another unique feature about-the temple is that the image of Lord Siva has five faces,
Easanam, Tatpurusham, Aghoram, Vamadevam and Sadyojatam. Aghoraswarupam is on the southern
side. The Sthala Vrikshas are Vilvam", Vadaval, and Konrai. The Vilva Vriksham is
near the shrine of the Devi, the Vadaval on the southern side of the Chandra Teertham and
the Konrai tree behind the shrine of Aghoramurti in the second prakaram. |
