marry your daughter to me in the Aippasi month." At this Markandeya said that Vishnu
should call all devas and with their help the marriage should be performed.
Vishnu commanded Garuda to deliver the wedding invitation to Brahma, Indra, Varuna and
others and to invite them, specifically Aating that he was marrying Markandeya's daughter
Bhoomi Devi, and also to make all arrangements for celebrating the marriage on a grand
scale. All assembled for the marriage and Saraswati dressed Bhoomi Devi for the marriage
in such a grand style that all
began to admire her.
Similarly each and every one adomed Bhoomi Devi
with different kinds of ornaments. In the Aippasi month Tiruvona Star day, Markandeya made
the Kanya Danarn and Vishnu tied the sacred thread to Bhoomi Devi's neck. Vishnu went
round the sacred fire, holding the hand ofBhoomi Devi, and gave darsan to all. |
