Asoka
became gloomy. From that gloom alone emerged light--an odd idea
flashed across his mind. Instantly he wished to give a shape to it.
He determined to convert his brother by an ingenious stratagem.
Anything wrong? Absolutely not! He only aimed at the reclamation of
his own brother prodigal for a purpose noble.
In
consequence, he conspired with his trusted lieutenants and confidant
ministers to co-operate with him in the execution of his plot. They
listened to him and nodded. Soon a trap was set up for Vitasoka.
Unsuspecting
Vitasoka was fortunately caught up in the trap. He was produced
before Asoka, the Justice-in-Chief of the land, for judgement.
