ASOKA
AS A TEETOTALLER |
|
She
convinced Asoka with her charms and honeyed words that his disease
would certainly be cured, if only he could believe in her attempts
and commit himself to her charge. She assured him of early cure and
quick restoration of health. What else did he desire? Nothing would
please him more than the early cure. So he agreed unconditionally.
She
was delighted beyond words and commenced the treatment. As it was in
progress, she commanded the physicians and everybody in the palace
to bring her any person - male or female, who was suffering from the
similar disease as that of the King. She exhausted all the ways and
means to achieve her object. She declared a fabulous reward for it
too. Forthwith, a vigorous nation-wide search was undertaken in this
regard. At last her efforts bore fruits. The victim was caught.
