For,
it is here and here alone Navabrahmas are installed and worshipped
with unbounded spiritual fervour, and no where in India this unique
feature finds a parallel; it is this kshetra lying between two
rivers called Vedavathi and Nadavathi, the two brances of
Tungabhadra that has 64 bathing ghats and 18 thirthas, like Kasi
situated between Varuna and Asi claiming 64 ghats and 18 thirthas,
and surprisingly the archamurthis of Navabrahmas are Sivalingas in
form, but called Brahmas; it is here the temples resemble the North
Indian models in their curvilinear towers; it is here found
another group of temples exclusively dedicated to Lord Siva
and called Papanaseswara group; it is here along with the Siva and
Brahmalayas, the Narasimha Alayas, Chennakesava Alaya are receiving
prayers with equal zeal.....
